The new branding for Matchstic is sexy and fun and it’s worth reading through their full thought process here.

Sure, stamps aren’t new - but I love how they went wild and stamped absolutely everything they could lay their hands on. I’ve had the same excitement when receiving our own stamps!

Loose lips sink ships

“During WWII there was a pretty large campaign against people having “loose lips” and discussing any information they knew about what was going on in the war. The posters contained a pretty terrifying message- that if you talk, people will die. The illustrations that accompanied them were often very graphic to drive the message home.” - From Vintage Me Oh My

Tangerine Tango: The colour for 2012

Pantone has announced their colour choice for 2012: Tangerine Tango. It’s juicey, vibrant, energetic, passionate and strong.

“Pantone’s Color of the Year is a symbol of what people are needing, based on what is happening in the world around them. I felt that Tangerine Tango is just the color to break the malaise and much-needed today. Walk into many clothing department and you are faced with a sea of gray and black as retailers ‘play it safe’. It’s the bland leading the bland. Splashes of tangerine are a much needed jolt of visual Vitamin C. This color is not a downer, but an upper.” - Pantone’s color guru Leatrice Eiseman

Motherbird

I can’t but help appreciate the delicate beauty of these designs by Motherbird. They’re well thought out and elegantly simple, with just the right amount of glam.

You Smell

This line of soaps called “You Smell” is an immediate eye-catcher, as it is eloquently presented, yet is initially insulting until the reverse side of the product is read.

ShapeMaker Blocks

How awesome are these blocks?!

“Make funny faces, geometric patterns, and good use of your hands and imagination. These hand-printed wooden blocks are for all ages and they are as beautiful to look at as they are fun to play with. Leave a set out as a bright and graphic accent to most any room, or stow it away at the cabin for those rainy afternoons. The kit includes 25 blocks made from replenishable hardwood and a slew of ideas for patterns and faces to get you up and running. For children 3 years and up, and of course adults.” From Best Made Company

It’s always nice to be treated to some behind the scenes, process sketches for a designer’s work. These are from Sanjay Patel’s work for the exhibition “Maharaja Splendor of India’s Royal Courts” at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum.

The show runs from October 21, 2011, through April 8, 2012.
